Why would you want to know how I get and stay healthy? I struggle with that question because "WHO AM I" and would you even care? It's hard for me to talk about because I don't want it to come off as a know-it-all or bragger. Even as I write this, I'm wondering (and concerned about) what you think about me. I have to remind myself, health and fitness is what I've been learning and doing for years, and still learning every day.
I think there's value in knowing that I've struggled just like you. That I feel overwhelmed; that I don't make the healthy choice every time. I know when people in a position of authority on a specific subject tell me about their struggles, I identify more with them. I think that's the way for most people too.
I also tend to belittle my accomplishments, passing them off as "normal." But I look back and realize, I have done a lot over the last 20 years in the health field. And, what I've learned may help you with the obstacles or challenges you're facing with your health.
So, I've decided to share what I've learned with my own health, helped my patients get healthy, the experts I've learned from in the health and fitness realm, the changes I've made, and the challenges I've gone through. Most people think I've always been healthy and fit, but if you've been to one of our Dinner with the Doc events and have heard my story, you know that's not true at all.
Patients ask me how do I stay so thin, what supplements do I take, what do I eat, how do I stay motivated to take care of my health. I hear comments like I bet you're a runner, I bet you don't eat any junk, and you must exercise a lot. Well...these are the types of things you're gonna find out.
Health is my greatest asset. Without my health, I can't do or help anyone...my kids, wife, patients, friends, family. There are 4 things I focus on to ensure my health. I call them the 4 Pillars of Health: Function, Mindset, Nutrition, and Fitness.
